What is medical microneedling with SkinPen?

Microneedling – also known as collagen induction therapy - is a procedure that uses small, sterilized needles to generate new collagen to smooth, firm and tone skin. The FDA has two categories for microneedling devices (cosmetic and medical) and it is based on the size of the needle depth. Cosmetic Microneedling is a depth of 0.3mm or less whereas medical microneedling is anything above that depth. Here at Oasis Medical Spa and Wellness, our medical providers perform medical microneedling with the first FDA cleared microneeding device – SkinPen.

What can I expect during my treatment?

SkinPen can be personalized to you. It works in three simple steps, designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process. This procedure requires little to no downtime and can be customized to go deeper into the skin where damage requires a more aggressive approach to treatment.

Topical numbing is applied prior to treatment. During the treatment you can expect to feel small vibrations. After the treatment is over, your face will be pink or red (comparable to a mild sunburn).

After 24 hours you can return to your routine and use a gentle cleanser, SPF and even apply a little makeup if you wish! Exercise can also be resumed after 24 hours of healing.

Usually, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve the best results. The number of sessions you will need depends on your skin condition, and one of our providers will create a treatment plan tailored specifically for you during a complimentary consultation.
